Oddastefna 2012 verður haldin í Safnaðarheimili Oddasóknar á Hellu, Dynskálum 8, Hellu, sunnudaginn 20. maí nk., kl. 13:30 – 17:00.

Fundarstjóri: sr. Guðbjörg Arnardóttir í Odda á Rangárvöllum

Ráðstefnan verður sett kl. 13:30

Fyrri hluti Oddastefnu verður helgaður fræðum og rannsóknum genginna samherja í stjórn Oddafélagsins, einkum jarðfræðinganna Freysteins Sigurðssonar(1941-2008) og Elsu Vilmundardóttur(1932-2008).

Oddastefna hefst með því að tekið verður á móti rausnarlegri bókagjöf sem Freysteinn Sigurðsson ánafnaði Oddafélaginu eftir sinn dag. Ingibjörg Sveinsdóttir, ekkja Freysteins, og dóttir þeirra, Ragnhildur, afhenda bókasafnið, á að giska 750 bækur. Verður það nefnt Freysteinssafn.

Jazz under the mountains 2012

Jazz undir Fjöllum (Jazz under the mountains) is a jazz festival which has taken place in Skógar under the Eyjafjöll mountains every Summer for the last 8 years, with constantly growing success.

The initiators of the festival are the Skógar Folk Museum and the saxophonist Sigurður Flosason, who has also been its artistic director from the start.

The original idea behind the festival was to organize dynamic and positive cultural events in order to promote culture, wake our visitors' interest for the Eyjafjöll region and increase the tourist flow.

But most of all, the festival exists in order to offer jazz fans the unique opportunity of seeing and enjoying great Icelandic artists in a beautiful setting.

This year, the festival will be held on July 28.

Oddastefna, árlegt málþing Oddafélagsins, var haldin í Skógum undir Eyjafjöllum laugardaginn 7. maí 2011. Heimamenn í Skógum tóku rausnarlega á móti fundargestum. Þar á bæ var það undirbúið af þeim hjónum Sverri Magnússyni forstöðumanni og Margréti Einarsdóttur í Skógum en Þórður Tómasson safnvörður flutti í upphafi Oddastefnu skörulegt ávarp og athyglisvert erindi sem birtist hér á heimasíðu Skógasafns. Þórður er heiðursfélagi Oddafélagsins ásamt Jakobínu Erlendsdóttur frá Odda á Rangárvöllum. Oddafélagið þakkar Skógamönnum heils hugar ánægjulega stund og gerðu 85 fundargestir góðan róm að Oddastefnu í Skógum, erindum, viðurgerningi og söfnum.

Dear visitors and friends of our museum,
the last vulcanic eruption in South Iceland (14. april 2010) had also an impact on our museum. Fine vulcanic ashes have found their way into the museum. We are still busy in cleaning all the rooms and exhibits but are not yet able to estimate when we will be ready to open the museum again.
